A warm welcome to RJH's class page!
Mrs James is RJ's teacher. Your child will also be supported by Mrs Stephens (the other Reception teacher), Miss Herbert (trainee teacher), Mrs Clements, Mrs Collischon and Mrs Tassie (Learning Support Assistants).
Your child's 'Show and Tell' / Reading Day is given below - books will be changed once per week and we will give out information about what to prepare for 'Show and Tell' in the weekly newsletter.
P.E. will be on a Tuesday and Thursday.
Each week, we will upload the Reception newsletter to the website along with any other information you might need. Please check the class page regularly for updates.
Please email me if you have any questions or concerns - email@example.com.
Reception Newsletter - 15th September
It has been lovely to welcome the children into Reception this week and to get to know them all.
Each week we will post a newsletter on the school website and it will also get sent to you via Parent Mail. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to speak to either Mrs James or Mrs Stephens.
Each class has a class page which is in the ‘Children’ section of the school website.
Please can children start to bring in their book bags daily; they will be placed outside the classrooms for collection at the end of the day.
Show and Tell
Each week, your child will be asked to either show or talk about something to the rest of the class, relating to our learning (don’t worry, they get lots of help with this and no one is forced to say anything if they don’t want to). We will post the children’s ‘Show and Tell’ day outside the classrooms and on the ‘Class Page’ by the end of the week. We will begin ‘Show and Tell’ week beginning 27th October.
We will read with the children and change their books on their ‘Show and Tell’ day. Every child will begin with the same level book, which will be picture books or will have just a few words on each page. Your child will be put onto the appropriate level in the next few weeks. Please share the book with your child, asking them to describe/answer questions about what is happening in each picture. Encourage them to point at each word and repeat it after you. They might be able to recognise a few letter-sounds or find a particular letter-sound/word on each page. Please write a comment in their reading diary every week so that we know they have read. Soon, your child will also begin to bring home letter-sounds and words to practise at home. We read with the children once per week, on their given day.
We are very proud of our outdoor classroom. Please can you refrain from allowing your child and their siblings to use the resources in the outdoor area before and after school.
P.E. will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday from week beginning Monday 4th October. Please send your child into school in their PE kit on those days, being mindful of the weather, as the children will remain in their kit all day.
Please ensure that your child’s clothes are labelled as it makes it impossible for us to match a jumper/cardigan to a child without it.
We ask for a voluntary donation of £5 per half-term to purchase additional snack items such as rice cakes, breadsticks and biscuits and to contribute to classroom activities, such as cooking, or additional items such as spare pants or special craft materials. Please put the donation in an envelope and give to the class teacher or put in your child’s book bag.
Children have access to water throughout the day, so do not worry about sending in bottles, as they tend to leak in the bags.
If your child has a persistent cough and/or a high temperature then please keep them at home and read the school website for further guidance. If your child is absent with sickness or diarrhea, please keep them at home for 48 hours after the last episode. For any absence, please call the school office to let us know ahead of the school day.
