Year 6 Mr Flynn

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 6 have had a good week. It was nice to talk about your children’s progress at the parent consultations. The year seems to be flying by, faster than ever. Mr Flynn’s maths class were visited today by the head of maths at St. John’s Primary School and a maths leader from Roding Valley High School. This formed part of a collaborative study in the continuity of maths teaching between primary and secondary schools. Our visitors were very impressed by our children’s ability to build pictorial mathematical models which is preparing them for their next steps at secondary school. In short, our approach to mathematics teaching is consistent with the demands of KS3 maths curriculum.

PTA Spring Fling and Easter Egg Hunt

The PTA are holding a fundraising event this coming Saturday –Saturday 30th March – from 11am to 2pm. The tickets for the Egg Hunt cost £3.50 and can be pre-booked at www.bookwhen.com/BHCPS or purchased on the door. Pease come along and support this event.

Cricket
Next week will be the children’s last cricket session. To end the course and to bring together all the skills that they have learnt, both classes will join together for the whole session and will play two games of Kwik Cricket. After Easter, we will be running a cricket club for any year 6s who wish to be considered for the Kwik Cricket tournament in the summer term. Letters will be coming out shortly.

Homework

We will be sending home some SATs practice papers for the children to have a go at. They can take as much time as they need to complete the paper and can ask for adult support if they need to. The papers will be due back in on the first Tuesday after the Easter break.
